The Founder & Great
Skip Asay
Edward Conover Asay Jr. (Skip), passed away on July 15, 2022. He was residing in Sanford N.C. at the time of his passing, and was originally from Middletown, New Jersey. He is predeceased by his mother and father and his brother Doug.
Skip went to Admiral Farragut Prep School in Pine Beach, N.J. and graduated from Middletown H.S. North in 1962. He continued his education going to Princeton Automation Institute.
Skip had many different hobbies that always seemed to become business opportunities bordering on obsessions! Whatever his hobby was, he had to excel and be the best. His businesses included Belford Automotive (with his father), Pace Carburetors and Subtech. In 2019 he was inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and held many national records during his years of racing. He later moved on to become a pioneer in the RC model submarine hobby, inspiring many future RC hobbyists. Many have called him the “Godfather of RC submarines”. He won many awards for his model submarines. He later focused his attention on the sport of target shooting. Skip always enjoyed being a mentor to others in whatever hobby he was currently into.
